A Vampire Story Something that we have high hopes for, having grown up (and been spoiled) during Lucasarts’ heyday of point-and-click adventure series, A Vampire Story has been in development for sometime.Telling the story of a former singer and current vampire trying to fulfil her dreams of singing at the Paris Opera, the game has been made using hand-painting techniques.
The level of effort that has been put in seems to indicate a good title is due but anything can happen. One thing is for sure, the developers definitely love what they are doing.
Alan Wake
From Microsoft, so it has been much hyped and is possibly overrated. But it also has an intriguing, though familiar storyline.
Described as a psychological thriller, after checking out the previews for Alan Wake, we are almost convinced that we were looking at a knock-off of Alone in the Dark. In fact, friend Alan himself looks quite a lot like Ed Carnby with a neater haircut and less stress in his life.
Taking place in Bright Falls, light will play a huge role in getting rid of all manner of beasties. All this in a quest to find Alan’s missing fiancĂ©. For some reason we’ve just had flashbacks to Drawn together and Xandir’s never-ending quest to saving his girlfiend. Did we say girlfiend? We meant girlfriend. Really.
Leisure Suit Larry: Box Office Bust
Adventure games have a long history and Leisure Suit Larry has been there from almost the very beginning with toilet humour and innuendo for everyone.
The last release in this series, Magna Cum Laude, did not do anyone proud and pretty much killed everything that was good about the game by throwing in a mess of mini-games that were at best irritating and at worst, mindlessly annoying.
The latest offering for the series has Larry’s nephew working on a movie studio, trying to catch a mole and of course, nail anything that moves. However, if it serves up the same tasteless game type as the last release (instead of the tasteless style that made it a classic); it will suck. Brett Venter
